With the Los Angeles Rams falling to the Philadelphia Eagles, they now turn their focus toward the 2025 offseason, where the draft will undoubtedly play a crucial role. A significant point of interest may very well be the quarterback position as the Rams envision their future.

Matthew Stafford, their seasoned quarterback, didn’t have a disastrous performance in the loss, yet at 36, the twilight of his career beckons. This season, Stafford has shown his worth with 3,971 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and a mere eight interceptions, maintaining a solid 66% completion rate. Despite his strong numbers, there have been moments where age has crept in. In the playoff clash with the Eagles, Stafford racked up 324 yards and delivered two touchdowns without turning the ball over. However, he found himself on the turf five times due to sacks. His reads, once razor-sharp, have occasionally faltered. Having already hoisted a Super Bowl trophy, Stafford might be considering bowing out on a high note.

If Stafford decides to hang up his cleats, the Rams will need to press forward with a plan to infuse youth into their quarterback position. Enter Will Howard, a potential target and a standout set to take the field in the National Championship for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Howard has consistently shown an ability to dissect defenses, anticipating pre-snap alignments and feeling the pressure with poise. He represents a solid option—a high-floor, low-ceiling type of prospect. Howard’s athleticism opens up the playbook with his capability to move and gain yards on the ground. As a passer, Howard demonstrates accuracy across all three levels, hitting his targets in stride.

Throughout his college tenure, Howard has amassed 9,545 yards and 80 touchdowns versus 35 interceptions, completing 63.2% of his passes. Given this upside, he emerges as a compelling candidate for the Rams to consider in their quest for a seamless quarterback transition.
