Shocking Report Paints Grim Future For Sherrone Moore

Currently on a two-game losing streak, the 5-5 Michigan Wolverines are in danger of missing a bowl game.

While the last Saturday in November isn’t looking great for Michigan, they fortunately get to host the Northwestern Wildcats on November 23 at the Big House.

We all knew this was going to be a rough season in Ann Arbor. However, things have gone much worse than expected for the defending national champs.

Head coach Sherrone Moore has come under fire and there are some fans who are calling for his job.

While Moore did a phenomenal job filling in for Jim Harbaugh during his suspension last season, many feel he has yet to prove that he’s truly capable of being in charge of such a massive program with such unforgiving expectations.

Having said that, those who are hoping for Michigan to pull the plug on Moore after this season will be disappointed to hear the recent report by CBS Sports.

“This is essentially a mulligan year for Moore,” Richard Johnson of CBS Sports wrote. “At Michigan, you shouldn’t have those, but this is a unique situation. Not only did Jim Harbaugh leave, but he left on Jan. 24, four days after the national championship game and well after every single top QB in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings had enrolled at their new schools.

“It was a bad hand dealt by circumstance, but there was cause for optimism about an offensive identity around returning quarterback Alex Orji, which eventually began to wane during training camp as Orji did not win the starting QB job decisively.

“Now Michigan looks to the offseason to re-tool and get back to being one of the Big Ten’s elite teams. Flipping No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood from LSU would be an era-defining move.”

While Moore has a job that most people in this great country would die for, there’s no denying he was dealt an unlucky hand in the grand scheme of things.

The quarterback situation has been a nightmare all season long. And while the Wolverines still have great NFL talent – especially on defense – the fact of the matter is they’re simply not an elite team this year.

Moore deserves another season to prove himself. And as Johnson pointed out, flipping Bryce Underwood from LSU would be an enormous step in the right direction. (Although the Wolverines do have some interesting quarterback prospects signed up already.)

Assuming he does indeed stay, Moore’s task this offseason will be to recruit his butt off, solidify his vision for the program, and potentially restructure his coaching staff.

What are your thoughts on the job Moore has done to this point?

Does he deserve another year to prove himself? … Or would Michigan be better getting ahead of things and firing him at the end of this season???
