Lane Kiffin Furious Over Controversial SEC Decision

Lane Kiffin has long been known for his outspoken nature and willingness to challenge the status quo in college football.

Love him or hate him, Kiffin is never afraid to speak his mind and ruffle a few feathers along the way.

The controversial Ole Miss head coach directed his latest comments at the SEC, openly questioning the conference’s scheduling choices.

Kiffin’s remarks followed the SEC’s announcement of game times for November 9, which includes a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff for Ole Miss’s upcoming home game against Georgia.

When asked if nighttime games give home teams an advantage, Kiffin didn’t hesitate to affirm the impact of the late start.

“I think that’s proven over time in NFL and college. Playing at night in electric atmospheres is a homefield advantage and tough when you’re an opposing team,” Kiffin said.

The topic of night games has become a particular sore spot for Kiffin, who pointed out that Ole Miss won’t host a single conference game under the lights this season – a frustration amplified by the fact that LSU, their SEC West rival, will host Alabama in a prime-time slot at 7:30 p.m. ET.

“LSU gets to play at night again, I guess? Shocker. That’s two for two for them,” Kiffin said. “I feel bad for our fans. To not have one night conference game is really unfortunate for them… It’s just really disappointing, but it is what it is.”

The LSU-Alabama rivalry has become a nightmare affair in recent years.

It’s hard to fault the decision to put the Tide-Tigers showdown at night and slate Rebs-Bulldogs in the afternoon (which is still a great window).

However, poor Lane always needs something to complain about…

First for Kiffin and the Rebels will be a conference clash this Saturday at Arkansas. Meanwhile, Kirby Smart and Georgia will look to continue their momentum against the rival Florida Gators.
