In a move that adds an intriguing twist to the NFL coaching world, Nathan Carroll, son of former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, is set to join the coaching staff of the Carolina Panthers.
Reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Nathan Carroll will be assuming the role of passing game coordinator for the Panthers.

This transition sees Carroll reunite with the new Panthers head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan, with whom he worked under during his tenure with his father in Seattle.
The 36-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having served as an assistant coach for the Seahawks under his father’s leadership from 2011 until 2023.
His journey with the Seahawks began as a defensive assistant before transitioning to the offensive side of the ball in 2013, a pivotal season in Seahawks history that culminated in the franchise’s first Super Bowl win.

During his time with the Seahawks, Carroll played integral roles, notably serving as the wide receivers coach from 2018 to 2021, followed by two years as a senior offensive assistant.
However, following the conclusion of the 2023 season, Pete Carroll was reassigned to an advisory role by the Seahawks organization, a decision that the elder Carroll conceded wasn’t of his own volition. (In other words, he was fired.)
I ❤️ Pete Carroll!

Subsequently, the Seahawks named former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as their new defensive coordinator.
Meanwhile, the Panthers hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales to help guide their franchise and most importantly try to develop Bryce Young who is about to enter his second season at quarterback.
🗣️ Hey Pete Carroll!
You're welcome to come on over to Carolina and work with your protege Dave Canales, and your son Nate 🤷♂️ https://t.co/zDKtdSKi6b

Getting back to Pete, are you surprised no one has hired him?
He’s made it extremely clear that he still wants to coach … But has the game passed him by?
What do you think his next step will be???
Pete Carroll probably should’ve fired Darrell Bevell after SB 49 but instead took responsibility for what happened.
Kyle Shanahan fired Steve Wilks after Sunday’s SB & then later criticized him on a conference call.
Speaks volumes about both men and their leadership IMO.
