Nebraska's Jordyn Frahm (98) celebrates during the college softball game between the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Stillwater, Okla., Thursday Feb. 26, 2026.

Nebraska softball has been one of the best stories in college softball this season, and the Huskers carry a 40-6 record, a 20-1 Big Ten mark, and a 13-game winning streak into their final regular-season weekend at Penn State (May 1-3, Big Ten Network).

Game 1 is today at 4 PM CT. Game 2 is Saturday at 1:30 PM CT. Game 3 is Sunday at 11 AM CT — all three on the Big Ten Network. Penn State (approximately 32-17, 11-10 Big Ten) is on a modest win streak of its own and will be playing for postseason positioning as well.

Nebraska has been a juggernaut in conference play, going 20-1 in the Big Ten. The lone loss is a distant memory for a team that has now won 13 straight. Ranked No. 3 in the NFCA poll — the highest ranking in recent program memory — the Huskers are playing with genuine national title aspirations.

The National Seed Chase

Beyond the immediate games, Nebraska is chasing something bigger: a top-4 national seed. The top four seeds in the NCAA tournament host their own regionals — playing the first two rounds at their home park before the super regionals. For Nebraska, that would mean hosting at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, where the Huskers have been nearly unstoppable this season.

The national seeding picture will be clarified at the Selection Show on May 10 (7 PM ET, ESPN2). Nebraska’s RPI has been hovering just inside the national seed range, and a strong close to the regular season — combined with a good run in the Big Ten Tournament — would solidify their case.

The Big Ten Tournament runs May 6-9 in College Park, Maryland. Nebraska enters as the heavy favorite for the No. 1 seed, with the conference title and an automatic NCAA bid on the line for the bracket winner.

The Record-Setting Season

Nebraska set a program record for single-season wins earlier this season and has been a model of consistency. Their 20-1 conference record is dominant by any standard, and the 13-game win streak entering this final weekend speaks to a team playing its best softball of the year at the right time.

For a program that has steadily built toward national relevance over the past few seasons, this year feels different. The Huskers are not just competing — they are contending. And a strong performance over the next week and a half could put them in Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series.

What’s Next
