White Sox Open To Trade Discussions For All Players Except One, According To MLB Insider

The Chicago White Sox are entering a transformative offseason under the new leadership of Chris Getz, and speculation is rife about potential changes to the roster. According to insider Bob Nightengale from USA Today, the word on the baseball street is that the White Sox are open to trade discussions for almost every player, with one notable exception.

Luis Robert, the dynamic center fielder, appears to be the sole untouchable. The decision is hardly surprising given Robert’s outstanding performance in the previous season. He achieved career highs in home runs (38), RBIs (80), and stolen bases (20), earning his first All-Star nod and securing a Silver Slugger award. With four years of team control remaining and a contract extending through the 2027 season, which includes club options, the White Sox are keen on preserving Robert as a cornerstone for the future.

On the pitching front, the situation is different. Ace Dylan Cease, after an impressive 2022 season, encountered challenges in 2023, amassing a 7-9 record and a 4.58 ERA in 33 starts. Despite recording 214 strikeouts in 177 innings, Cease’s WHIP rose to 1.42, reflecting a notable increase in hits allowed compared to the previous year. Cease remains under team control until the conclusion of the 2025 season, making him a viable trade option.

While arbitration-eligible players add to the mix, the White Sox already have five veterans with confirmed contracts for the upcoming season. Notable names include Yoan Moncada ($24.8 million) and Andrew Benintendi ($17.1 million). The team is also reportedly considering parting ways with other key assets, such as outfielder Eloy Jimenez, who is slated to earn $13.8 million in the 2024 season. The winds of change seem to be blowing through the White Sox camp as they navigate the intricate landscape of the MLB offseason.
