WATCH: Derek Jeter Puts Clueless Colin Cowherd In His Place After Horrendous Blunder

Haters might consider him overrated due to all of the hype and attention he received through the years, but the fact of the matter is Derek Jeter is one of the greatest players in baseball history.

He was everything you’d want in a captain. While he was far from the only important piece of the Yankees’ dynasty puzzle, he was undoubtedly vital to all of the success in the Bronx.

Unfortunately, not everyone is completely familiar with Jeter’s career.

Appearing on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Jeter was left a little puzzled after Cowherd attempted to draw similarities between Nolan Ryan and Pittsburgh Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes.

“Obviously, you were in the Nolan Ryan era,” Cowherd said.

Jeter was quick to correct him: “No, no, no…slow down,” he responded.

“Not even an inning?” Cowherd laughed, trying to lighten the moment.

Jeter appeared visibly amused yet firm as he clarified the timeline: “No. I was way after Nolan … Way, way, way after.”

Ryan, who holds the all-time record for strikeouts, retired in September 1993, while Jeter made his MLB debut in May 1995.

Jeter and Cowherd laughed off the mix-up and continued their discussion on the All-Star festivities.

Of course, there have been much more egregious errors than the one Cowherd made. However, it made for a humorous moment.

Maybe just maybe, Jeter’s getting a little insecure about getting old – especially since he was always considered “the kid” during his playing days.

Now an MLB analyst for FOX Sports, Jeter routinely meets players who grew up idolizing him – such as 22-year-old Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz…

It was a fun All-Star break.

Teoscar Hernández won the Home Run Derby on Monday.

Then the American League went on to continue their dominance over the National League with their 5-3 victory on Tuesday.

Most importantly, we can all finally get back to “real” baseball.

What are your thoughts on Cowherd’s slip-up? … Innocent mistake?

As far as Jeter, where do you rank him among the top players of the past 30 years?

Looking ahead to the second-half of the season, what do you think the World Series matchup will end up being???
