Texas HC Steve Sarkisian will be an NFL Coach Next Year

The quest for college football supremacy has narrowed down to four: the Texas Longhorns, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Penn State Nittany Lions. All eyes are on these teams as they vie for the coveted national championship, but one team has emerged as a standout throughout the season—Texas Longhorns.

Finishing their regular season with a 13-2 record, the Longhorns’ only stumble came against the Georgia Bulldogs during their inaugural SEC year. The progress they’ve made under head coach Steve Sarkisian’s leadership has been outstanding, bringing them ever closer to a national title.

Sarkisian’s impressive run with Texas hasn’t gone unnoticed. His name is buzzing in NFL circles as teams look to inject fresh vitality into their coaching roster. As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there’s significant interest in Sarkisian from NFL teams, sparked by Texas’ current playoff campaign.

Sarkisian’s journey with the Longhorns began in 2021 after he honed his offensive acumen as Alabama’s offensive coordinator between 2019 and 2020. At Texas, Sarkisian has already secured two College Football Playoff berths, boasting a 38-16 record. His upward trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable. In his initial season, Texas only managed a 5-7 record. Fast forward to the present—they’re just two victories from capturing a national title, the first since 2005.

Beyond college football, Sarkisian comes with ample NFL experience, having served as the quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2004, and later as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator from 2017 to 2018.

While Schefter’s insights often hold weight in NFL discussions, the prospect of Sarkisian leaving Texas seems improbable. With Texas inching toward a national title and Sarkisian’s substantial $10.5 million salary, a leap to the NFL doesn’t seem to be in the cards just yet. The Longhorn faithful have voiced their opinions strongly on social media, expressing their hopes for Sarkisian to remain at the helm.

The Texas Longhorns’ path to potential glory is a compelling story in this year’s College Football Playoff, and Sarkisian’s role in their journey further solidifies his valued place in the college football landscape.
