Report: Padres Expressing Interest In Former Dodgers Struggler Pitcher

Former MLB All-Star pitcher Noah Syndergaard is on the radar of the San Diego Padres this offseason, according to reports. The Padres, who are seeking cost-effective options, are considering offering Syndergaard a one-year, prove-it deal. Other teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates are also reportedly interested.

Last year, the Los Angeles Dodgers took a chance on Syndergaard, signing him to a one-year, $13 million contract in the hope of reviving his career. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Syndergaard struggled with his velocity and gave up a significant number of home runs, resulting in a high 7.16 ERA during his 12 games with the Dodgers.

His tenure with the Dodgers was cut short when he was placed on the injured list due to a right index finger blister. In need of pitching, the Dodgers traded Syndergaard to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for right-handed infielder Amed Rosario. However, his time with the Guardians was brief, as they released him in August.

Now, the San Diego Padres are considering taking a chance on the 31-year-old former All-Star. Given his performance last season, it’s unlikely that Syndergaard will secure a more lucrative contract than the one he had with the Dodgers. The Padres may hope to unlock his potential and turn his career around in their organization.
