Report: Alabama’s 5-Star Wide Receiver Ryan Williams Changes Graduation Year To 2024

Five-star wide receiver and committed Alabama recruit, Ryan Williams, has decided to reclassify into the 2024 class and is set to sign with the Crimson Tide in February, as reported by On3.

Williams, who ranks at No. 9 in the 2024 ESPN 300, hails from Saraland High School in Alabama, and he made his commitment to Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide on October 8, 2022.

Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 175 pounds, Williams had an impressive season at Saraland High School, where he caught 72 passes, amassing 1,324 yards and scoring 19 touchdowns. His performance contributed to his team’s 14-1 record for the season.

Williams will be the third five-star recruit for Alabama in the 2024 cycle, joining the ranks of cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe (No. 2 in 2024 ESPN 300) and quarterback Julian Sayin (No. 3 in 2024 ESPN 300). Notably, Alabama hasn’t signed a five-star wide receiver since Shazz Preston (No. 16 overall) in 2022.

Alabama’s 2025 class is already boasting two of the top three wide receivers, with Williams and Jaime Ffrench Jr. (No. 14 in 2025 ESPN 300) from Mandarin High School in Florida.

With Alabama’s offense aiming to improve upon its passing game, which ranked ninth in the SEC and 60th in the FBS with an average of 228.5 passing yards per game, Williams is expected to make an immediate impact. This season, the team was led by Isaiah Bond, with 621 receiving yards, and Jermaine Burton, with 777 receiving yards, both contributing significantly with 44 and 35 receptions, respectively.

As the early signing period approaches on December 20, Alabama’s 2024 recruiting class currently holds the fifth rank in the nation.
