Pedro Martinez Reveals Heartbreaking Update On Deadly Nightclub Tragedy

A devastating roof collapse at a packed nightclub has left the Dominican Republic reeling. More than 120 people have been confirmed dead, and over 150 others have been rushed to local hospitals with injuries following the catastrophic structural failure.

Among the victims was former Major League Baseball pitcher and World Series champion Octavio Dotel, who was 51. His death has sent shockwaves through the baseball community and beyond.

“His energy, positivity and zest for life were infectious to all who had the pleasure of knowing him,” Dotel’s agent Dan Horwits said. “We pass along our thoughts and prayers to his entire family as well as everyone affected by the tragedy.”

The collapse, which occurred during peak hours at one of the nation’s most popular nightspots, has triggered a wave of grief and uncertainty.

Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram, revealing that the disaster hit painfully close to home.

“Our hearts are with you, and we all are affected,” Martinez said. “I still have family members that are still in the rubble and we don’t know what happened to them but we just want to be strong, like we have always been.

“We’re all sad, we’re all affected by the tragedy,” he continued. “We are a country that prays a lot and remains united all the time, so I just hope that everybody has the same courage.”

The collapse has also claimed the lives of Tony Blanco, another former professional baseball player, and a sister of Nelson Cruz, a longtime MLB slugger and multiple-time All-Star.

The entire MLB community is mourning the loss of its own, and tributes have poured in from players, fans, and officials alike.

As rescue efforts continue and families (including Pedro’s) await word on their loved ones, the country remains in collective mourning.
