Paul Finebaum Names The Two Favorites To Win The 2024 Heisman Trophy … Is He Forgetting Someone??

Congratulations to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels for winning the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night.

Brian Kelly’s Tigers may have had a disappointing season based on their high expectations, however it sure wasn’t Daniels’ fault.

Team success should be important when it comes to winning the Heisman, but it’s hard to ignore Daniels’ stat-line of 3,812 passing yards, 50 total touchdowns and just four interceptions.

There’s still plenty of unfinished business this season, however it’s never too early to look ahead to the 2024 season and who the Heisman contenders would figure to be.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum found himself looking ahead to this very thing when he joined “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.”

“I would start with Jalen Milroe,” Finebaum declared, pointing to the talented Alabama quarterback.

Milroe gained national attention with his spectacular game-winning throw against Auburn, followed by his standout performance in the SEC Championship against the rival Georgia Bulldogs, which clinched the Tide a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Finebaum also acknowledged the potential of another SEC quarterback, stating, “I heard Greg (McElroy) say Carson Beck a minute ago. Those are good places to start within the SEC.”

Indeed, the Georgia quarterback had a very strong year and hit the ground running for the Dawgs. His arrow is pointing up just like Milroe’s is.

“Then, after that, you just grab whoever’s coming back, which right now is somewhat of a mystery,” Finebaum remarked, emphasizing the unpredictability of the college football landscape when looking ahead to next season.

Of course, a whole lot can (and will) change between now and next season, thanks in large part to the transfer portal and the new rules of college football.

But if you had to look ahead – Who do you think should be the (very) early favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy???
