Ohio State may soon add another top-tier prospect to its already impressive future roster. However, Buckeye fans are warned not to get too far ahead of themselves.
2026 four-star running back Favour Akih has officially revealed his final three college choices: Ohio State, USC, and Miami.
The Ohio native announced the decision via social media, thanking the programs that had recruited him and acknowledging his tough decision ahead.
“Thank you to all the teams who took a chance on [me], and I’m thankful for all the relationships we have made along the way! But I am officially down to three schools!” he posted on X.
While the competition remains stiff, signs are pointing toward Akih staying close to home.
Allen Trieu of 247Sports logged a prediction for Ohio State shortly after Akih’s campus visit, during which head coach Ryan Day extended an official scholarship offer.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong also projected the Buckeyes as the likely landing spot, giving them an 84% chance of securing Akih’s commitment.
Ranked No. 205 nationally and the No. 15 running back in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite, Akih has made a name for himself in a short amount of time.
Despite only entering his third year of organized football, he rushed for 1,653 yards and scored 15 touchdowns last season at Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio.
At 6 feet and 190 pounds, Akih brings a powerful, balanced skill set to the field – and a strong emotional connection to Ohio State.
“Being an in-state kid, Ohio State automatically jumps into my top three,” Akih told On3’s Wiltfong after his visit. “It’s a blessing being able to play for your hometown and bring back big wins to your hometown.”
He described receiving an offer from the Buckeyes as “a life-changing moment.”
“I believe it’s every Ohio kid’s dream to go and play football at The Ohio State University,” Akih told Buckeye Huddle.
“So for me, it meant the world. Being able to talk to Coach Day and Coach [Carlos] Locklyn and seeing the future they have planned for me put a big smile on my face.”
Should Akih commit to Ohio State, he would join a 2026 class already headlined by elite wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.
The Buckeyes also added a pair of highly regarded running backs – Anthony Rogers and Bo Jackson – in their 2025 class, further bolstering a future backfield that could be one of the deepest in the country.
Akih has yet to announce an official commitment date, but momentum is clearly building in Columbus.
Having said that, in this unpredictable day and age of NIL, there are no sure things … Should Buckeye fans be worried that they may lose out on Akih???
