Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines, fresh off securing a five-star quarterback in the latest recruiting cycle, are setting their sights on another elite signal-caller for the 2026 class.
One of their top targets is Ryder Lyons, a highly sought-after prospect from Folsom, California.
Lyons will be visiting Ann Arbor from April 9th to April 11th, as part of his college recruitment process. He also has upcoming visits scheduled with Ole Miss, Ohio State, and USC.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and newly appointed offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey have been the primary coaches communicating with Lyons throughout his recruitment.
“Coach (Chip) Lindsey and coach (Sherrone) Moore are who have been recruiting me,” Lyons told 247Sports. “I like coach Lindsey a lot, he’s super personable and a super good coach.
“Coach Moore has been recruiting me hard too. He’s a super young coach so he has lots of energy and you can feel his presence. He’s super easy to talk to.”
Lyons is considered a five-star recruit by 247Sports and is currently ranked as the No. 6 overall player in the 2026 class, No. 3 among quarterbacks, and the top prospect in California.
He attends Folsom High School, where he had a standout sophomore season.
“Lyons is on the short list when talking about the top overall signal caller in the ’26 class,” his scouting report states. “He’s coming off a huge sophomore season where he showed off his rare ability as a thrower and runner and accounted for 61 all-purpose touchdowns.
“At the SoCal Elite 11 Camp (3/17/24), he showed off one of the quickest releases in the camp, the ability to make throws from in and out of the pocket and was accurate to all three levels of the field.
“His 36″ vertical jump was 2nd highest in the camp and he combines rare physical tools with an advanced feel for the position as well.”
Although there’s still a long way to go in the recruitment process, Michigan’s chances look promising, with this upcoming visit playing a key role in their pursuit of the five-star quarterback.
As Lyons continues to explore his options, the Wolverines are positioning themselves to make a strong case for why he should call Ann Arbor home for his collegiate career.
Having said that, the other programs will certainly have their say – in particular Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels.
What are your thoughts on Lyons as a prospect? … When it’s all said and done, will he end up in Ann Arbor???
