Jonah Winston, the younger brother of NFL quarterback Jameis Winston, is gearing up for one of the biggest decisions of his young football career – where to play college ball.
Winston has his eyes on a few major programs, but one school may have the edge.
Of course, Jameis Winston made history at Florida State, becoming the No. 1 quarterback in the 2012 recruiting class before leading the Seminoles to a national championship and winning the Heisman Trophy in 2013.
Winston has had a long career in the NFL and earned Pro Bowl honors back in 2015. Now, his younger brother could follow in his footsteps.
Jonah, a three-star wide receiver, has already visited Florida State and has a strong connection to the program.
“The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU,” Jonah said. “That’s where the game really started for me.”
Despite that connection, Winston isn’t rushing his decision.
Along with a return trip to Tallahassee, he’s also planning a visit to Auburn, another storied program with strong ties to his family.
Unlike his older brother, Jonah started his football journey as a quarterback before making the switch to wide receiver.
His athleticism has allowed him to thrive in multiple roles.
During the 2023 season at Hoover High School (Alabama), Winston racked up 11 total touchdowns.
In 2024, he showcased his versatility once again, finishing with 542 receiving yards and 152 rushing yards.
According to 247Sports, Winston is ranked as the No. 43 wide receiver in his class and the No. 13 overall recruit from Alabama.
While Florida State and Auburn are his most talked-about options, Ole Miss and UCF are also keeping tabs on Winston as his recruitment heats up.
With plenty of time before making his final decision, Winston is carefully weighing his options.
That said, Florida State remains a strong contender given his deep ties to the program.
Wherever he lands, one thing is certain – Jonah Winston is ready to carve out his own path on the college football stage and possibly beyond.
What are your thoughts on Jameis’ little brother? … Do you think he will wind up in Tallahassee???
