Kirby Smart Finally Puts Foot Down On Never-Ending Georgia Troubles

The Georgia Bulldogs have been making headlines this offseason, though unfortunately, not for anything having to do with football.

The team has faced several driving-related issues in recent years, and the latest incident involves wide receiver Rara Thomas, who was arrested on charges of cruelty to children and misdemeanor battery.

Consequently, head coach Kirby Smart dismissed Thomas from the team.

Thomas began his college football career at Mississippi State before transferring to Georgia.

His first arrest occurred shortly after his transfer, involving an incident with his girlfriend in a dorm room.

He was charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor family violence, though these charges were later dropped.

The second arrest took place last Friday. Following the incident, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart met with Thomas and informed him of his dismissal from the team.

“He can no longer be part of the football team,” Smart said. “He understands that. We wish him the best moving forward.”

Thomas’ attorney, Kim Stephens, released a statement expressing optimism that the case would be resolved.

“I am pleased that bond could be set and Mr. Thomas released while we fully investigate the case,” the statement read. “We expect that this matter can be resolved swiftly and fairly once all facts are known.”

During his only season with Georgia, Thomas recorded 23 receptions, totaling 383 yards and one touchdown.

He had a more productive tenure at Mississippi State, where he caught 62 passes for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns over two seasons.

He was expected to play a significant role in the Bulldogs offense this season as they seek to fill the large void left by Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey.

The legal troubles surrounding the Georgia football program have led to increased scrutiny of Smart’s leadership.

Many have accused him of being too soft when it comes to taking disciplinary action – leading players to continue pushing the envelope even further.

Is it possible that Smart has changed his ways and will be putting his foot down on this type of behavior going forward???
