The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for a special visit to the White House on April 28, marking a momentous celebration for their Super Bowl triumph. However, the big question lingering is whether quarterback Jalen Hurts will be part of this historic occasion.
Earlier in March, President Donald Trump extended an official invitation to the Eagles following their impressive victory in Super Bowl LIX, where they showcased their prowess against the Kansas City Chiefs. Witnessing their dominant performance firsthand at the game in New Orleans, Trump expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they’ll be extended that invitation. We’ll do that right away. They deserve to be down here, and we hope to see them.”
While many Eagles players are undoubtedly excited about the opportunity to meet the President, Hurts’ interest seems somewhat less enthusiastic. Recently, at the TIME100 Gala, reporters inquired about whether he would be joining his teammates at the White House. Hurts’ response was telling; he offered only a noncommittal “Umm,” before the reporter switched gears and wrapped up the interview. Clearly, this was a question Hurts wasn’t prepared for, or perhaps one he simply didn’t want to engage with.
This isn’t the first time Hurts has sidestepped political discussions. In earlier interviews leading up to the Super Bowl, he was also asked about Trump’s attendance. Hurts firmly stated, “He’s welcome to do what he wants,” making it clear that politics weren’t on his agenda.
On the other hand, some Chiefs players, like Travis Kelce, embraced the significance of the occasion, expressing that having the President present at the Super Bowl was a tremendous honor. Kelce remarked, “It’s a great honor. No matter who the president is, I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life. And having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool.”
As the Eagles prepare for their visit, all eyes will be on Hurts to see if he’ll ultimately decide to attend the White House event. Whatever his choice, it’s clear that this moment is a testament to the Eagles’ remarkable season and the joy of celebrating their victory on such a prominent stage.
