“We talk crap to each other. We really try to get the best out of each other and really beat each other in training. And I think it makes us better when we take the field.”
In recent years, offensive production across the league has been on the decline, but the Red Sox are focused on changing that trend, and their top prospects are central to the plan.
The team has embraced cutting-edge technology to help its hitters prepare, using tools like the Trajekt robot, which replicates opposing pitchers’ pitches.
For example, Red Sox coaches have programmed the robot to mimic the pitches of New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, even adding extra movement to prepare the prospects for the toughest competition.

Trevor Story, the Red Sox shortstop, had the chance to see Campbell in action at Triple-A and was blown away by his raw power.
“He has a special talent for moving the bat, his bat speed is just violent. When you hear it, you’re like, oh, sh*t,” Story said.
