Tensions are rising as a notable conflict unfolds between Angel Reese and Robert Griffin III, grabbing the attention of Shaquille O’Neal, who’s not shy about expressing his discontent.

On a recent episode of the “Off the Record” podcast, Shaq issued a stern warning to RGIII, going so far as to threaten physical repercussions should he continue his unwarranted comments regarding the Chicago Sky forward. His message was clear: enough is enough.

The drama kicked off last week when Griffin reshared a troublingly racist image related to Reese’s NBA 2K26 cover. Although Griffin later condemned the post, he continued to stoke the flames by asserting that Angel has developed a “hatred” for Caitlin Clark, stemming from the media’s incessant comparisons between the two players. In his statement on X, Griffin mentioned that he had been contacted by someone within Reese’s inner circle who allegedly backed his claims. He added that while some have framed the narrative as a racial issue, he personally refrained from doing so.

Angel Reese wasn’t about to let this slide. Responding directly on social media, she slammed Griffin for spreading what she described as misleading narratives for clout, highlighting that it’s disrespectful to fabricate stories about her character.

“RGIII, tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I’m gonna punch you in four f—ing face. It’s enough. I don’t normally do stuff like this, but just stop it bro,” O’Neal said. “You got your job, you got your podcast, leave my Angel Reese alone. I’m the one calling her and telling her not to respond. F—ing stop it. That’s the last time. OK? Thank you.”

Enter Shaquille O’Neal, who came in swinging—figuratively, of course. In an unmistakable message to Griffin, O’Neal told him to cease the derogatory remarks, emphasizing that he does not take such accusations lightly. He revealed that he has been in contact with Reese, encouraging her to ignore the negativity. His passionate defense highlighted their connection, especially given his mentorship of Reese dating back to her time at LSU, where he also played.

O’Neal’s loyalty to Reese is evident, as he has even secured her a significant endorsement deal with Reebok, illustrating his commitment to supporting her burgeoning career.

Now, the ball is firmly in RGIII’s court. Will he respond, or will he choose to back off? The outcome remains to be seen, but this showdown is certainly keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
