In a tragic turn of events, former Kentucky defensive back Kelvin Joseph Jr. has been arrested following a fatal motorcycle accident in Richardson, Texas. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, claiming the life of a 27-year-old woman, identified as Cody Morris from Plano. Joseph, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, now faces serious charges including Driving While Intoxicated and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death.

According to the Richardson Police Department, officers were called to the scene just before 5 a.m. CT. Shortly after, Joseph reached out to authorities to report his involvement in the crash on U.S. Highway 75, where he was found displaying signs of intoxication. This led to his arrest on the aforementioned charges.

The accident resulted in significant disruptions, with northbound lanes of US-75 closed for over three hours as officials worked to clear the scene.

Kelvin Joseph’s career has seen him play for several teams, starting with the Dallas Cowboys, who selected him with the 44th overall pick in 2021. After two seasons in Dallas, he had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks in 2023, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings in 2024. Most recently, he signed with the DC Defenders of the United Football League in 2025.

In addition to his recent legal troubles, Joseph was previously labeled a “person of interest” in a 2022 murder investigation involving a drive-by shooting outside a nightclub that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man. He was later cleared when it was determined that he was a passenger in the vehicle from which the shots were fired.

On the field, the 6-1, 195-pound cornerback has made his mark in the NFL. Over four seasons, Joseph has recorded 40 total tackles, 34 of which were solo, alongside one tackle for loss, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble across 33 games. Before turning professional, he played 20 collegiate games—11 at LSU and nine at Kentucky, where he was a standout player. In his final season at Kentucky, he registered 25 tackles, four interceptions, a pass breakup, and a tackle for loss, earning Fourth-Team All-SEC honors in 2020.

The ramifications of this latest incident on his career remain to be seen, but it marks a significant chapter in the life of a player whose journey has already been marred by controversy.
