Former Alabama DB Tragically Killed At 19

Terrance Howard, a former walk-on defensive back for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has tragically passed away at the young age of 19.

Howard succumbed to injuries sustained in a car accident in North Carolina.

The incident occurred when Howard, who had been driving, exited his vehicle to check on another car involved in a traffic accident.

During this time, he was struck by a passing car.

Initially unidentified, Howard was transported to one hospital and later transferred to another, where he remained in critical condition.

Brooke Tigtig, the mother of Howard’s girlfriend, explained the delay in identifying him.

“When he was picked up, he didn’t have ID on him so he was considered a John Doe. He was taken to one hospital and transferred to another,” Tigtig told KHOU 11. “So I think it took some time for them to be able to contact his parents.”

Howard’s family had started a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of transferring him back to his hometown of Houston for specialized medical care.

Tragically, Howard passed away on Thursday night.

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the devastating situation, stating: “Before I make comments on the team, I do want to send along thoughts and prayers.

“Terrance Howard, who was with us and transferred on to North Carolina Central, he did pass away and he’s got some guys who are here on this team close to him and also think about him … Just want to send prayers and thoughts up to his family.”

Howard began his collegiate football career at Alabama and was set to play for North Carolina Central University on a full scholarship this fall.

His untimely death has left his family, friends, and the entire football community in mourning.

RIP.
