DeMarcus Cousins, the former NBA star, is currently making waves in Taiwan’s T1 League.
The 33-year-old veteran big-man, known for his competitive nature, recently found himself at the center of controversy during a game where he expressed visible frustration with the referees’ blown calls.
The incident escalated when Cousins, unable to contain his anger, vociferously confronted the referees about the perceived missed calls.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist didn’t stop at shouting; he also made an inappropriate gesture, raising his middle finger towards the officials.
Cousins joined the Taiwan Mustangs in July for the Asian Tournament, bringing his dynamic energy and strong personality to the league.
However, his recent conduct has highlighted his challenges in adapting to the new league as he continues to struggle with maintaining his composure under pressure.
Despite these issues, Cousins has been a dominant force in the Taiwan League, showcasing his dominance and earning the Finals MVP award in the 2024 T1 League Finals.
In a recent appearance on the Knuckleheads podcast, Cousins opened up about various topics, including his time with the Sacramento Kings and the potential of the 2018 New Orleans Pelicans squad, which featured Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis.
“Shout out to Rajon Rondo. Honestly, it was like it was Rondo, bro; he put that battery in my back,” Cousins said of the chippy former All-Star.
“He put things into perspective for me, he helped me understand the game more, and he slowed the game down for me. I started paying more attention to details, but everything kind of slowed down.
“That was just that Rondo effect for me. He’s still my guy to this day, he still coaches me, and I love that about him.” Cousins said.
