Deion Says He Was Snubbed from Hall of Fame

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders walks the sidelines as his team takes on the ASU Sun Devils at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on Oct. 7, 2023.

The unveiling of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 brought forth some well-deserved honorees: Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, and Sterling Sharpe. However, the absence of Eli Manning, despite his illustrious career with the New York Giants, raised eyebrows. Manning, a first-year candidate, displayed grace in his reaction to not making the cut.

“I’m excited for those guys that got in. All of them are so deserving… Happy for them. Texted a few of them, the guys that I knew and just congratulated them,” Manning shared in an interview with Jamie Erdahl of NFL Network. Manning’s humility and respect for his fellow players were evident, as he expressed a sense of peace about the outcome.

Colorado Buffalo head coach Deion Sanders, upon hearing of Manning’s omission, expressed disbelief, highlighting the competitive field of candidates. Manning’s career achievements, including over 57,000 passing yards and 366 touchdowns, made his exclusion surprising to many. Despite his consistent performance and memorable Super Bowl victories against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, Manning’s initial Hall of Fame snub left observers questioning the decision.

Nonetheless, Manning’s positive outlook and sportsmanship in the face of disappointment hint at a promising future candidacy. As Manning gains more opportunities to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame, his impact on the game is sure to be recognized, underscoring his standing as one of the league’s iconic figures.
