Deion Sanders’ Son Facing Enormous Legal Trouble

Attention always seems to follow the Sanders family – sometimes by design, sometimes by controversy.

Now, Shilo Sanders, the son of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders, finds himself at the center of a financial and legal mess involving a luxury car, a massive court judgment, and a bankruptcy filing.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has filed a request with the court to reclaim a 2023 vehicle currently in Shilo Sanders’ possession, alleging the former Colorado safety has stopped making payments.

According to the filing, Sanders is behind on $6,877 monthly payments dating back to December 2023. The company says he owes an outstanding balance of $97,239 – slightly more than the car’s current trade-in value of $97,000.

“Debtor (Sanders) indicated an intent to retain the motor vehicle and reaffirm the obligation. Debtor has not accomplished this intention,” the filing stated.

The automaker is now asking the bankruptcy court to allow it to repossess the $135,000 vehicle and to compel Sanders to disclose its location.

The court request stems from Sanders’ 2023 bankruptcy filing, a legal move that aimed to protect him from a nearly $12 million judgment awarded to a Dallas security guard.

The case dates back to 2015, when then-15-year-old Shilo allegedly elbowed school security guard John Darjean in the neck during an altercation over a cell phone. Darjean claims the incident left him with permanent injuries, nerve damage, and incontinence.

Sanders, who argued self-defense, failed to appear when the case went to trial in 2022, resulting in a default judgment of $11.89 million.

Darjean has since filed two complaints seeking to collect the judgment. He’s now joined in that effort by Mercedes-Benz.

At the time of his bankruptcy filing, Sanders reported $11 million in debt. Despite his financial troubles, he has an NIL valuation estimated at $1 million.

He also recently completed his final season with the Colorado Buffaloes and is expected to continue his playing career in the NFL.

His father, Deion Sanders – affectionately known as “Coach Prime” – recently signed a lucrative extension to remain with the Buffaloes, one that reportedly pays him $11 million per year.

The deal includes lavish perks: $300,000 annually for private jet travel, a country club membership, and two SUVs for personal and recruiting use.

As scrutiny intensifies around the Sanders family, the courtroom drama is far from over – and now includes one of the most recognizable luxury car brands in the world.
