In a heartfelt update, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has addressed the recent concerns surrounding his health after reports surfaced about his hospitalization due to an unspecified issue. Taking to social media, Sanders expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and reassured fans that he is on the mend.
“Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!” Sanders posted on X. “I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!”
His enthusiasm is palpable as he says he’s eager to return to Colorado to reunite with his staff, team, and all those connected to the program. “When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I’M COMING BABY,” he added, signaling his unwavering determination.
In the midst of this, his son, Shedeur Sanders, who plays quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, refrained from commenting on his father’s influence during recent workouts. However, Deion Sanders Jr. chimed in, telling USA Today that his father was “feeling well,” which is certainly a relief for the Buffaloes nation and fans alike.
Sanders had previously opened up about his health journey when he mentioned a challenge he faced in May, revealing that he had lost 14 pounds. Back then, he acknowledged that what he was experiencing was “right now is at a whole other level,” hinting at the seriousness of his condition.
The head coach has faced significant health hurdles over the past few years. In 2021, he had two toes on his left foot amputated due to blood clots arising from an earlier surgery. This year, he underwent surgery again to relieve blood clots in both of his legs, underlining the tough road he’s been on.
Despite these challenges, Sanders successfully led Colorado to a 9-4 record in his second season as head coach. As the Buffaloes look ahead to a promising season, they will kick off their 2025 campaign at home against Georgia Tech on August 29, and it’s clear that Sanders’ spirit remains undeterred as he steers the program forward.
