Dante Moore Chooses Oregon: Former UCLA Quarterback Reunites With Dillon Gabriel Via Transfer Portal

Former UCLA quarterback Dante Moore is making the move to Oregon, as reported by 247Sports. Moore, a five-star quarterback from the 2023 recruiting class, had initially committed to Oregon but later switched to UCLA, becoming one of the program’s most significant modern-day signings.

247Sports ranks Moore as the third-best overall player in the transfer portal and the second-ranked quarterback. With Oregon securing former Oklahoma and UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel via the transfer portal, Moore is expected to take on the backup role as the Ducks prepare for their transition to the Big Ten next season.

Throughout this season, Moore displayed flashes of his five-star potential. The Detroit native accumulated 1,610 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. In his debut start, Moore impressed by completing 17 of 27 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns in a victory against San Diego State.

However, Moore faced challenges during fall camp, competing in a three-way quarterback battle with Ethan Garbers and Collin Schlee. He started five games but was eventually benched due to turnovers and inconsistent performance. Moore struggled with -84 rushing yards and lost three fumbles, partly attributed to poor pass protection. UCLA’s offensive line allowed 42 sacks during the regular season, ranking No. 122 nationally.

Moore will bring three years of eligibility to Oregon and may have the option to use a redshirt year if he plays in fewer than four games while serving as Gabriel’s backup in 2024.
