Concern For Carson Beck After Major Red Flags Emerge

As the Georgia Bulldogs gear up for their highly anticipated SEC Championship rematch against the Texas Longhorns this Saturday in Atlanta, quarterback Carson Beck has drawn attention for comments that may not sit well with fans.

The matchup is a sequel to their earlier clash in Austin this season, where Georgia cruised to a dominant victory.

The Bulldogs are coming off a dramatic 44-42 victory over rival Georgia Tech, a game that stretched into eight overtimes.

In the thriller, Beck overcame a shaky start to deliver when it mattered most, completing 28 of 43 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns.

During a recent press conference, Beck offered candid remarks that raised plenty of eyebrows in the college (and NFL) world.

A reporter, who assumed like the rest of us that Beck watched the Texas-Texas A&M game, asked him for his thoughts on the Longhorns defense ahead of the SEC title showdown.

However, Beck shockingly admitted that he didn’t even watch the game.

Taking it a step further, Beck revealed that he doesn’t even like watching football.

“I don’t watch football … I know that sounds kind of crazy, but I don’t really enjoy watching football. It’s not fun for me,” he said.

“If I watch that game, I’m not just going to be able to sit there and enjoy it, I’m going to stress myself out the whole entire time.

“I’m watching the defense, like ‘OK, why this coverage on this down?’ I’m like, ‘well why did he throw it there against this coverage?’ You can learn from watching it, but it’s stressful for me.”

In fairness, Beck clarified that he diligently studies film to prepare for games. However, his comments left many fans scratching their heads.

Some will argue that as long as he puts in the work in the film room, he’s free to do whatever he wants in his free time.

But let’s be real for a second … Quarterbacks are held to a higher standard and are expected to hunt for any advantage they can get. 24/7. 365. That just comes with the territory.

Predictably, Beck took plenty of heat for his revelation and many questioned his dedication and work-ethic.

Georgia’s season has been a rollercoaster.

At their best, the Bulldogs have looked nearly unstoppable, exemplified by their first meeting with Texas.

But inconsistency has also plagued the team, including a lopsided loss to Ole Miss.

Despite their ups and downs, the Bulldogs are positioned to make the College Football Playoff regardless of Saturday’s outcome. However, a victory over Texas would secure them a coveted first-round bye.

Beck is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the country. However, he’s struggled to play up to his potential for the majority of the season.

When he’s on, there are very few quarterbacks – if any – who are better. But again, turnovers and overall inconsistency have bit Beck this season.

Adding to the headaches are unconfirmed Snapchat photos that have been circulating online…

The bottom line is Beck and the Bulldogs have a chance to accomplish something very special this season.

While much of the talk nationally has been focused on Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State, it seems like some have forgotten just how dangerous Kirby Smart’s Dawgs can be.

Kickoff for Saturday’s SEC Championship Game is set for 4pm EST.

What are your thoughts on Beck’s revelation that he doesn’t enjoy watching football? … Should Georgia fans (and NFL scouts) be alarmed by that???
