With spring football in full swing and the 2025 college football season on the horizon, analysts are already debating which players are poised for a breakout year.

According to ESPN’s Jake Trotter and Paolo Uggetti, one name stands out above the rest, especially when it comes to the Big Ten: Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

Trotter identified Moore as the next rising star in the conference. After serving as Dillon Gabriel’s backup last season, Moore now has the chance to take over one of the most high-powered offenses in the country as Oregon aims to defend its Big Ten title.

“Moore is now the favorite to take over for Gabriel and keep the Ducks in national title contention. Moore was the No. 2 recruit in the ESPN 300 rankings two years ago before signing with UCLA,” Trotter stated.

“The talent is there, and the Ducks bring back plenty of playmakers around him, including budding star wideout Evan Stewart. If Moore lives up to his potential, the Ducks could push to defend their Big Ten title.”

Uggetti echoed Trotter’s thoughts, backing Moore as the top breakout player while also pointing to Oregon’s newest addition at running back, Makhi Hughes, as another player to watch in 2025.

“I’m with Jake on Oregon QB Moore, who has all the tools and is in the right offense to flourish right away,” Uggetti said. “But if I had to choose someone else, it would be his teammate, running back Makhi Hughes.

“After spending two seasons at Tulane totaling nearly 3,000 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, Hughes was a big get for the Ducks in the transfer portal.”

With both analysts in agreement, all eyes will be on Moore as he steps into the spotlight as Oregon’s leader.

If he delivers on his immense potential, the Ducks could once again find themselves in the national title conversation.

Fans will get their first look at Moore and Hughes in Oregon’s Spring Game on Saturday, April 26, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. PST.

What are your thoughts on the lovefest for Moore? … Is it warranted? Or do you have your eyes set on a different “breakout” player for next season???
