Chiefs Moving On From Skyy Moore

The Kansas City Chiefs have built their dynasty on explosive offensive playmakers, but Skyy Moore simply hasn’t been one of them. Since being drafted in the second round in 2022, Moore was expected to develop into a key piece of the Chiefs’ passing game. Instead, he’s struggled to carve out a consistent role, and after three seasons of limited production, it’s clear that a fresh start might be best for both sides.

Why Trading Moore Makes Sense

The numbers tell the story—just 43 receptions, 494 yards, and one touchdown over 36 career games. Worse, most of those numbers came in his first two seasons, as he barely saw the field in 2024. When Kansas City needed playmakers, Moore was not the answer, and he was quickly phased out of the offense.

The Chiefs’ offense is built around Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and a rotating cast of explosive weapons, and with Rashee Rice emerging as a legitimate WR1, Moore’s path to relevance looks even slimmer. Rather than holding onto him and hoping for a breakout that may never come, Kansas City should trade him while he still has some upside.

Who Would Be Interested?

Moore is still just 24 years old, and teams that need young, affordable receiving talent could take a chance on him:

  • New England Patriots – They need WR depth, and Moore could thrive with more opportunity.
  • Chicago Bears – If they want to add weapons around their next QB, Moore is worth a shot.
  • Indianapolis Colts – Shane Steichen’s offense could use a speedy, versatile receiver in the slot.

Final Thoughts

Skyy Moore isn’t a bad player, but he hasn’t been the dynamic weapon Kansas City expected. For the Chiefs, every roster spot counts in their quest to stay dominant, and holding onto a receiver who isn’t contributing isn’t an option.

A trade would give Moore a chance to reset his career elsewhere, while the Chiefs can focus on developing more explosive playmakers for Mahomes. In the end, it’s the right move for everyone.
