Last week, Raiders tight end Brock Bowers etched his name into the NFL history books, setting new standards for rookies. With records for both catches and receiving yards by a rookie tight end under his belt, the buzz around Bowers is only set to grow as he approaches yet another milestone this weekend.

On Sunday, all eyes will be on Bowers as he takes to the field with a shot at grabbing the NFL record for most catches in a single season by a tight end. Heading into the regular-season finale against the Chargers, Bowers boasts 108 receptions over 16 games. This achievement places him fifth in the all-time standings for single-season catches by a tight end. But with nine or more grabs on Sunday, he’ll surpass the legendary mark of 116 set by Zach Ertz back in 2018 with the Eagles.

To put things into perspective, Ertz’s record-setting season was accomplished in a 16-game schedule. Bowers has the benefit of a 17th game, yet this doesn’t diminish the gravity of his achievements for the 2024 Raiders. In a challenging season for the team, Bowers’ performance has been a shining example of skill and consistency, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what he might achieve next.
