Big Ten Powerhouse Likely To Flip Star QB From Rival

One of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class, Jonas Williams, could be on the verge of shaking up his commitment.

According to On3, his Oregon pledge is now being projected to flip to rival USC.

Williams, a standout at Lincoln-Way East High School (Illinois), is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound passer ranked as the No. 6 quarterback, No. 2 player in Illinois, and No. 94 overall recruit in the 2026 class.

He originally committed to Oregon head coach Dan Lanning on August 3, but his recruitment has intensified in recent weeks.

The talented quarterback has drawn increased interest from top programs, receiving offers from Ole Miss on January 31 and, most recently, USC on Wednesday.

The Trojans, led by head coach Lincoln Riley, officially extended a scholarship offer to Williams, adding intrigue to his recruitment.

According to On3, USC has positioned itself as the favorite to flip Williams from the Ducks. Both program are currently navigating major transitions at quarterback.

The Ducks recently lost Heisman Trophy winner Dillon Gabriel to the NFL Draft and are expected to turn to former five-star recruit and UCLA transfer Dante Moore as their new starter in 2025.

Meanwhile, USC faces its own quarterback reshuffling following the transfer of former starter Miller Moss.

Jayden Maiava, a former UNLV transfer, stepped in late last season and is expected to be the Trojans’ QB1 in 2025.

Despite their current projected starters, both programs are looking to secure a long-term answer under center.

Another key factor in Williams’ potential flip is Oregon’s aggressive recruitment of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

The former Georgia commit has a June 6 visit scheduled with the Ducks, signaling serious mutual interest.

While speculation around Williams flipping to USC is growing, nothing is set in stone.

The 2026 recruiting cycle is still in its early stages, and the four-star quarterback has yet to make an official announcement regarding any changes to his commitment.

For now, Williams remains an Oregon commit, but with USC making a strong push, his recruitment is far from over.

What are your thoughts on USC’s chances to flip Williams? … Will Riley even still be the Trojans’ head coach in 2026???
