The Auburn Tigers may have struggled on the field in recent seasons, but under the leadership of head coach Hugh Freeze, the team is experiencing a notable resurgence in recruiting.
As Freeze gears up for his second year at the helm, Auburn has emerged as a powerhouse on the recruiting trail, boasting one of the top classes for 2025.
The latest boost to Auburn’s recruiting efforts comes from Anquon Fegans, a highly sought-after four-star safety from Alabaster, Alabama.
Fegans made headlines by committing to the Tigers, choosing Auburn over formidable rivals LSU and Georgia.
According to Hayes Fawcett from On3 Recruits, Fegans is a top 60 recruit and the fifth-best safety in the nation.
“BREAKING: Four-Star Safety Anquon Fegans has Committed to Auburn,” Fawcett announced on X. “The 6’1″, 185-pound safety from Alabaster, AL, chose the Tigers over LSU & Georgia. Ranked as a Top 60 Recruit (No. 5 S) per On3 Industry.”
Fegans expressed his excitement about joining Auburn with a brief but clear message for fans: “War Damn Eagle.”
This commitment marks a significant win for Freeze and the Auburn program.
Currently ranked as the 44th player in the 2025 class by 247 Sports, Fegans is the third-best safety and the second-best player in Alabama.
He hails from Thompson High School in Alabaster, where he has made a name for himself as a standout defensive talent.
Auburn’s recent recruiting success has been nothing short of remarkable.
The Tigers have been on fire this July, securing seven new commitments, flipping two recruits from Alabama, and climbing to the No. 6 spot in the 2025 recruiting class rankings.
They also hold the top position for the 2026 class.
“Auburn is closing out July as the hottest team on the Recruiting Trail,” Fawcett posted on X. “Since Saturday the Tigers have: – Landed 7 Commitments – Flipped 2 Recruits from Alabama – Rose to the No. 6 Class in 2025 – No. 1 Class in 2026.”
While Auburn’s success in recruiting is impressive, the team’s on-field performance under Freeze has yet to match the high expectations.
After a 6-6 regular season and a subsequent bowl game loss to Maryland, Freeze is determined to address the shortcomings and elevate the Tigers’ performance.
Despite a challenging first year, Freeze’s aggressive recruiting strategy signals a promising future for Auburn football.
With a strong 2025 class taking shape and early success in securing top talent for 2026, the Tigers are poised for a potential turnaround.
But will they be able to truly join the big boys of the SEC? … If so, how soon can they get a seat at that elite table???
