Arizona Diamondbacks Eyeing Former Red Sox Power Hitters To Strengthen Roster

Fresh off their second-ever World Series appearance, the Arizona Diamondbacks are eyeing some veteran additions to bolster their young core. Two former Boston Red Sox players have caught their attention as potential designated hitters.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, the Diamondbacks have internally discussed the possibility of pursuing Justin Turner and J.D. Martinez to fill the designated hitter role in their lineup.

Justin Turner, who played for the Red Sox last season, posted impressive numbers, hitting .276 with 23 home runs, 96 RBIs, and an .800 OPS in 146 games.

J.D. Martinez, who recently turned 37, had a productive season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, batting .271 with 33 home runs, 103 RBIs, and an .893 OPS in 113 games.

Despite their age, both Turner and Martinez have demonstrated their ability to contribute significantly at the plate in the later stages of their careers, making them attractive options for any team in need of a power bat.

Turner has openly expressed his fondness for playing in Boston, but it seems unlikely that he will return to the Red Sox for the upcoming season.
