Texas Longhorns backup quarterback Arch Manning is drawing comparisons to controversial Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel – but for nothing having to do with football.
The famous nephew of Peyton and Eli went viral on social media for a costume he wore to a recent Halloween party.
Intentional or not, the Scooby-Doo costume that Manning wore was extremely similar to the one Johnny Football wore back in the day.
Needless to say, fans had a whole lot to say about this on social media…
“mf thinks he’s johnny manziel.”
“Copy cat, youll never be Johnny.”
“That’s johnnys costume. They wanna be like us so bad.”
“Little bro syndrome. Sad!”
“He dares to where the scoob fit!!!!!!!!!!”
“Feels like he just paying respects to the goat.”
“They say imitation is the highest form of flattery.”
“He ain’t Manziel.”
“Couldn’t hold his jock strap.”
Despite the similarities in cartoon and costume taste, it’s safe to assume the only path Manning will be following Manziel on is his Heisman Trophy path.
Nothing against Johnny Football. He was a hell of a college football player. One of the best we’ve seen in recent years. But he’ll be the first to tell you that his hard-partying ways are what derailed his football career.
Something tells me we don’t have to worry about the same thing happening to Manning. (But hey, you never know!)
In all seriousness, college football fans (especially Texas A&M fans) are having a laugh with Manning and his costume – but we know everything was done in good fun.
As for Arch’s Longhorns, they are sitting pretty with a 7-1 record and are undoubtedly one of the main contenders for the national title.
Texas hosts the struggling Florida Gators this coming Saturday as they attempt to pick up another significant SEC win and keep their momentum going.
While Quinn Ewers is QB1 in Austin, we know anything that Arch Manning does will be newsworthy – especially when he decides to wear a Johnny Manziel “inspired” Halloween costume.
What are your thoughts on the silly situation???
