It goes without saying that it’s been quite a rough month for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
First, they saw their 29-game winning streak snapped at the hands of their bitter rivals, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
That loss in the SEC Championship Game cost the Bulldogs a Playoff spot and a chance to attempt to win a historic third straight national title.
Unfortunately for Smart and company, the hits keep coming, this time off the field.
Outside linebacker Marvin Jones Jr. became the latest Bulldog to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Losing Jones is a significant blow to Georgia. He was the #20 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle and was expected to have a big future in Athens.
His decision to enter the transfer portal adds to the roster challenges for Georgia, as he becomes the third outside linebacker from the 2022 signing class to make such a move.
Darris Smith and CJ Madden had previously entered the portal, collectively intensifying the concerns for the Dawgs defense moving forward.
Having said all of this, it’s not like the sky is falling in Georga. They’re going to be just fine.
The fact that so many players are looking to transfer speaks to the depth of talent Smart has assembled in Athens. However, you do have to admit it’s a tad concerning if you’re a Bulldogs fan.

It’s been quite a rough month in Athens.
Adding salt to the wound is the fact that, if we’re being honest, Georgia is undoubtedly one of the four best teams in the country.
If the Playoff committee truly wanted to put the four “best” teams in the field, the Dawgs would be included – and they would have as good a chance as anyone to knock off the loaded Michigan Wolverines.
But the reality is, their only loss of the season was the one they needed most, and here we are…
With the Playoff expanding to 12-teams next season, it’s safe to say Georgia has a great chance to be right back in the dance … But what are their chances to win the 2024 national title???
Georgia loses one game in two years after winning back to back titles and a few guys in the portal and a couple (alleged) flipped recruits has casuals celebrating like… they just went 7-5.
