The Alabama Crimson Tide fell short once again in their pursuit of a national championship, finishing the 2024 season with a disappointing 9-4 record under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Despite coming close, Alabama narrowly missed a berth in the College Football Playoff.
Had the Tide managed a 10-2 record instead of losing to both Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, they might have secured a spot in the CFP field.
Instead, their streak without a national title now stretches back to the 2020 season, when they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes to claim the championship.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Alabama fans are once again filled with high hopes. However, the experts at 247Sports predict another year without a title for the Crimson Tide.
The outlet forecasts a championship showdown between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, with Arch Manning and Texas coming out on top.
According to 247Sports’ Brad Crawford, Alabama’s next championship is on the horizon – but not until 2027.
“Patience Alabama fans, patience. It’s going to take a couple of years, but Kalen DeBoer will get the Crimson Tide back to college football’s medal stand,” Crawford wrote.
DeBoer inherited a program accustomed to dominance under legendary coach Nick Saban.
Transitioning to a new era was always expected to take some time, but Alabama remains well-positioned to reclaim its spot among the elite.
Alabama’s talent-rich roster and successful work in the transfer portal set them up for another strong season in 2025.
The Tide also boast one of the nation’s top recruiting classes, reinforcing their chances of returning to the College Football Playoff.
With the expanded 12-team format, they have a clearer path to the postseason – as long as they avoid costly upsets and take care of business during the regular season.
Having said all of that, we know how high the expectations are in Tuscaloosa. Simply making the playoffs isn’t nearly enough.
In other words, if the 2025 season turns out the way Crawford predicts, Tide fans won’t be too happy. And DeBoer will surely start feeling the heat. (Hell, he already has.)
The Crimson Tide’s 2025 season kicks off on August 30 with a high-profile road matchup against the Florida State Seminoles.
A kickoff time for the game has yet to be announced, but all eyes will be on DeBoer and his team as they aim to end Alabama’s championship drought and write a new chapter in the program’s storied history.
