Hicks will be part of a competitive outfield lineup, including star players like Mike Trout and Taylor Ward. Mickey Moniak also stood out in the 2023 season, although he faced challenges against left-handed pitchers. In contrast, Hicks excelled against left-handed pitching in 2023.
Given these dynamics, it appears likely that Hicks will take on a significant role as an everyday outfielder against left-handers. However, he will still have opportunities against right-handed pitching, possibly sharing playing time with Moniak.
Jo Adell, another talented outfielder, could face a challenging situation as the team has only four regular outfield spots. Adell, who is out of minor league options, may need to secure a spot on the active roster or risk being placed on waivers if the Angels choose to send him down.
The Angels, under the leadership of new manager Ron Washington, aim to make strides in the 2024 season. Hicks believes the team has the potential to surprise many observers.
