Six years after signing what was then the largest contract in MLB history, Bryce Harper remains locked in on the same goals he had when he first entered the league.
Now in his 15th MLB season, the Philadelphia Phillies superstar has his sights set on reaching 500 career home runs – but more importantly, bringing another World Series championship to Philadelphia.
Harper, who currently sits at 336 career homers, knows that reaching the coveted 500-home-run milestone will take consistency, health, and the right environment.
“You’ve got to stay healthy. You’ve got to stay strong. You’ve got to be on winning teams, too, I feel like,” Harper said.
“Obviously, you can do it without that. But I feel like it just pushes you that much more to be great, being in an organization with a fan base that pushes you every day.”
While personal milestones matter, Harper remains laser-focused on winning another championship.
“Individual stats are great, but that one thing, man – that World Series. That’s what you want to do. All those things will take care of themselves if you’re winning and if you’re staying healthy. I’m not really too worried about it,” he said.
The Phillies front office is determined to surround Harper with the right talent to bring another title to Philadelphia. With a roster built to compete, the team is focused on making a deep playoff run.
One key piece of that championship puzzle is starting pitcher Ranger Suárez, who is set to become a free agent after the 2025 season. Like Harper, Suárez hopes to stay in Philadelphia long-term.
“This is my childhood club, my childhood organization. I’ve played here since I was young, really young. All I think about is staying here. I want to pitch here for the rest of my career,” Suarez said.
With Harper leading the charge, the Phillies believe 2025 could be their year.
If everything falls into place, he could inch closer to 500 home runs – and more importantly, help deliver another World Series championship to Philadelphia.
With Opening Day finally upon us, anything – and I mean anything – is possible.
What are your thoughts on Harper’s comments? … Is this the year he finally delivers a World Series title to Philly???
