Yet Another Georgia Player Arrested On Horrifying Charges

Details surrounding the recent arrest of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young have been made public following the release of an incident report by the Athens-Clarke County Police.

The report outlines allegations of physical abuse against Young, who is accused of assaulting a female victim, identified as his ex-girlfriend.

According to the report, the arrest followed a heated encounter between Young and the victim late Monday night.

The victim told police that she had visited Young’s apartment around midnight to discuss the status of their relationship.

The conversation reportedly “turned into a heated argument” when the victim discovered Young was speaking to another woman on the phone. She claimed there had been prior issues with infidelity.

As tensions escalated, the victim alleged that Young grabbed her by the arm and forcefully pulled her out of his room.

She also stated that he “used derogatory terms and was demeaning” toward her before retreating back into his room and locking the door.

The situation reportedly worsened when the victim began gathering her belongings while on a phone call with a friend.

The victim alleged that Young “came out and grabbed her from behind,” lifting her and squeezing her torso and abdomen with significant force.

The responding officer noted visible injuries on the victim, including “a bruise and discoloration on the bottom right side of her chest” and “redness on her right flank.”

Although no injuries were noted on her arm, as she had alleged, photographs of the injuries were taken as part of the investigation.

EMS was called to evaluate the victim’s injuries, but she declined transport. However, she agreed to be taken by the officer to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center for further medical attention.

Afterward, officers proceeded to Young’s residence, where they interviewed him regarding the incident.

According to the report, Young initially denied any altercation, telling officers that the victim “came over invited” and that they had planned to talk about their relationship.

He admitted the argument became heated but insisted he had only escorted the victim to the door, denying that he physically grabbed or harmed her.

When questioned about the victim’s injuries, Young maintained that he was not responsible.

“I found probable cause based on the totality of the circumstances along with physical evidence of injury to [the victim],” the reporting officer wrote. “I told [Young] that he could grab somethings [sic] to take with him, but he was going to have to come with us. I asked him to place his hands behind his back and told him he was under arrest.”

Young was transported to the Clarke County jail, where he was booked at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, he currently remains incarcerated on charges of battery and assault on an unborn child. The officer also requested special bond conditions, citing concerns expressed by the victim about past emotional abuse and her fear of Young, who she noted owns a firearm.

Unfortunately for head coach Kirby Smart, this is just the latest in a long line of off-field trouble within his program.

Despite his assurance that he’s doing everything he can to keep his players out of trouble, seven Bulldog players have been arrested since January.

While Georgia is far from the only program who deals with this type of trouble, everything is amplified in Athens, especially after the fatal street-racing incident involving Jalen Carter.

Young played two seasons for the Miami Hurricanes before transferring to Georgia last December.

The senior has 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Ironically, his role in the offense was greatly expanded following Smart’s decision to kick Rodarius “Rara” Thomas off the team following his own arrest on multiple family violence charges.

What are your thoughts on Georgia having yet another concerning arrest in their program?

What does Kirby need to do to fix the mess in Athens once and for all???
