Slowly but surely the 2024 college football season is approaching.
As a matter of fact, in exactly THREE months the season will kick-off in Dublin, Ireland as the Florida State Seminoles will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in an ACC showdown.
To celebrate us being three months away from the start of what is sure to be a glorious season, I figured we’d have FOX Sports lead analyst Joel Klatt share with us the five best stadium atmospheres in all of college football…
No, the above graphic is not Klatt’s rankings, but “BigGameBoomer” deserves credit for showing love to Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium – home of one of the best crowds in all of college football.
But as far as Klatt is concerned, he recently revealed on his “Joel Klatt Show” podcast what he believes is the five toughest stadiums to play in.
According to Klatt, the top five are the following…
#1. LSU – Tiger Stadium
#2. Penn State – Beaver Stadium
#3. Alabama – Bryant-Denny Stadium
#4. Oregon – Autzen Stadium
#5. Clemson – Memorial Stadium (aka “Death Valley”)
“LSU at night – even though, truth be told, I haven’t called a game at LSU in particular at night – but just watching it, talking with people around the sport, LSU, that’s the toughest road environment in college football,” Klatt said of his top choice.
Following closely behind LSU is Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, renowned for its electrifying “White Out” games.
“Penn State, that white-out environment, again, in a big game, it’s really tough to beat,” Klatt said.
Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium claimed the third spot on Klatt’s list. Meanwhile, Oregon’s Autzen Stadium and Clemson’s Memorial Stadium rounded out the top five.
Reflecting on the notable exclusions from his list, Klatt mentioned historical venues like The Swamp in Florida, Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium, and Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Klatt has often been called a “Big Ten homer” – but interestingly, neither The Big House nor The Horeshoe sniffed his top five.
