STEAL OF THE DRAFT??: Kirk Herbstreit Names The Single Best Pick In The Entire NFL Draft (& It’s Not Who You Think) … Star In The Making??

In a move that certainly doesn’t hurt their chances at a historic three-peat, the Kansas City Chiefs snagged Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick in last week’s draft.

Worthy was one of the biggest names in all of college football last season and was responsible (along with quarterback Quinn Ewers) for one of the highlights on the year.

Andy Reid and certainly Patrick Mahomes were very excited that Worthy fell to them at the end of the first-round.

It’s hard to criticize the pick no matter how you look at it. After all, despite winning back-to-back Super Bowls, wide receiver is still an area of need for the Chiefs.

In Worthy, they have an experience and explosive weapon who figures to enter the NFL world more ready than most.

You can certainly count ESPN’s lead college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit as a fan of the pick.

As a matter of fact, Herbie pinpointed the Worthy selection as pound-for-pound the best of the draft.

“I think Xavier Worthy is the obvious one,” Herbstreit told Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter. “He’s gonna bring that speed to Patrick Mahomes. I think it’s a smart pick.”

“Anything that Kansas City does seems to always work out,” he added. “They’re just always a step ahead of everybody else. They always seem to add a new toy for Patrick Mahomes to be able to work with.”

Worthy, who had an impressive career with the Texas Longhorns, made waves at this year’s NFL Combine by setting the record for the fastest 40-yard dash, clocking in at a blistering 4.21 seconds.

The Chiefs receiving core is filled with questions and concerns. Chief among them (see what I did there?) is the ongoing legal situation involving Rashee Rice. Regardless of how that ends up, Rice figures to face a suspension from the league.

Another headache for Kansas City is the troubled Kadarius Toney. The controversial receiver has had numerous off-field issues which have plummeted his value to virtually nothing.

In the rare occurrences when Toney is not dealing with injury, he more times than not shoots the Chiefs in the foot with bonehead mistakes, whether it be him lining up offsides or dropping the most routine of passes.

Regardless, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach made it clear the organization is going to give Toney another chance to prove himself.

“He is probably our most talented wideout now,” Veach recently said. “It doesn’t do anyone any good unless you stay healthy. But the kid has always worked hard here for us, and I know he’s been down there with Pat, and I think it’s a matter of him staying healthy and I think if he can do that, he can really do a lot of great things in this offense.”

“People around the building like him and it’s the injury bug and hopefully he gets some luck on his side, and he can stay healthy and be the player that he was in Florida and the player that we’ve seen in spurts here.”

What are your thoughts on Kansas City drafting Worthy?

Do you agree with Herbstreit that he is pound-for-pound the best pick of the draft? … If not, who is?

More importantly, do you think the Chiefs will actually three-peat next season???
