DEVELOPING: Former Big Ten Legend Begs To Join Coaching Staff Following Controversial Poaching … Would He Be A Great Coach??

In the wake of Michigan poaching running back coach Tony Alford away from Ohio State, a former Buckeyes legend has thrown his hat in the ring for the unexpected vacancy.

The one and only Maurice Clarett has let it be known that he’s interested in joining the staff at his beloved alma mater.

“Ryan Day……you making room on the staff for me? You really love me don’t ya!!!” Clarett tweeted on X.

Undeterred by his past criticisms of Day, Clarett doubled down on his desire to join the coaching staff.

“@OhioStateFB tell Ryan to call me. He has my number,” he urged in a follow-up post.

Clarett’s outreach extended to fellow Buckeyes coach Brian Hartline, with Clarett tagging the wide receivers coach in a message: “@brianhartline tell your homeboy to call me… Might be the best way to stop all of my Saturday afternoon troll sessions,” he wrote.

Despite his lack of coaching experience, Clarett expressed willingness to take on the role without compensation as a gesture to reconcile past differences and contribute to the Buckeyes success.

Clarett’s football career at Ohio State was marked by notable achievements, including helping the team secure the BCS national championship in 2002.

However, he has largely been overshadowed by controversy and is often times a vocal critic of Day and the Buckeyes.

What are your thoughts on Clarett’s desire to join Ohio State’s coaching staff?

Do you think he was just kidding? Or possibly just looking for attention?

Or is he being serious?

Were you surprised that Alford left for the hated Wolverines???
