Will Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns Finally Make The Playoff This Year??

As the 2023 college football season approaches, the Texas Longhorns are gearing up for what could be a defining year under the leadership of head coach Steve Sarkisian.

With the return of several key standout players and the emergence of young talent, the team’s potential is as high as it’s been in a long time.

Sarkisian addressed the heightened expectations surrounding the Longhorns at Big 12 media day.

He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with coaching at a prestigious program like the University of Texas and emphasized that he and his players are fully aware of what is at stake.

“I chose to be the head coach of the University of Texas, and our players chose to come to the University of Texas. With that comes the responsibility and the expectations that come with that,” Coach Sarkisian said, exuding confidence.

“We don’t shy away from that. We accept it. We have to acknowledge it. Then we push it to the side, and then we get back to the daily grind of what we need to do.”

One of the most significant storylines heading into the new season revolves around the quarterback position. After a highly competitive battle, sophomore sensation Quinn Ewers emerged as the starting quarterback, besting the highly touted five-star prospect and freshman, Arch Manning.

Ewers’ impressive skill set and experience from the previous season have raised hopes that he will lead the Longhorns to success.

The return of dynamic wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington adds another layer of excitement to the Longhorns’ offense. Both players showcased their potential last season, and their presence on the field promises to give Texas a potent offensive attack.

With a roster full of talent and determination, Sarkisian believes the team is ready to handle the lofty expectations.

“I think we’ve got a mature enough team to respect what you guys think of us, but at the end of the day, now we have to go back to work,” he stated. “Expectations are just that. What will ultimately define us is how we play on Saturdays, and that’s what we’ve got to focus on.”

As the anticipation builds, all eyes will be on the Longhorns to see if they truly are for real.
