Will Deshaun Watson & Amari Cooper Form An Elite QB-WR Duo??

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has had a very rough few years for obvious reasons.

However, he’s trying to turn the page and has been making the most of the offseason by strengthening his bond with his teammates.

Watson recently hosted several of the Browns skill players in Houston for training and later took some of them with him to Puerto Rico for further preparation. One player who benefited from this extra time with Watson is star wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper, who underwent core muscle surgery earlier in the offseason, missed some of the team’s official offseason activities. However, he made up for it by spending quality time with Watson in various settings, building their chemistry both on and off the field.

During an interview at his inaugural Deshaun Watson Foundation high school 7-on-7 tournament, Watson expressed confidence in Cooper’s readiness for the upcoming season.

“Amari’s going to be good,” he confidently stated. “He’s a guy that’s a vet, been in the league for a while, so he knows exactly what he needs to do to be ready for the season and training camp, and our chemistry is going to be tight. We’ve been hanging out. We’re just going to continue to build that chemistry as much as possible.”

Cooper, who had an impressive debut season with the Browns, recording 78 receptions for 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns, is equally excited about the upcoming year.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to train with Deshaun during the offseason,” Cooper remarked. “We’ve been putting in the work to take our connection to the next level. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together on the field in 2023.”

Watson, who faced a turbulent season last year due to a suspension and limited playing time, only managed six starts, accumulating 1,102 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions.

However, both Watson and Cooper are determined to bounce back and have higher expectations for the 2023 season.

With Watson’s renewed focus and dedication, along with Cooper’s recovery and their strengthened camaraderie, the Browns are poised to deliver bigger and better performances on the field.
