As Dak Prescott’s contract inches closer to expiration after the coming season, speculation is beginning to ramp up on what the future holds for the Cowboys quarterback.
Owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that he intends to sign Prescott to a long-term deal and sees Dak being a “Cowboy for life.”
However, until that extension is officially signed, anything can happen.Β
Mike Tannenbaum on Get Up advised the Dallas Cowboys to draft Michael Penix Jr and release Dak Prescott when his contract runs out.

FS1’s Nick Wright brought up a fascinating scenario on a recent episode of “First Things First.”
“What if the Patriots traded the pick at #3, particularly if Drake Maye is there because people seem to love him. Say he’s traded to Minnesota for 11 and 23 and something. They draft a tackle there…draft one of the mini-stud wide receivers in this class at 23, and have the plan be we’re gonna sign Dak Prescott,” Wright proposed.

Dak in a Patriots uniform???
Could you see it happening???
Best thing for Dallas.

The Patriots are universally-expected to select a quarterback in next month’s draft.
While Caleb Williams is expected to be gone by #3, New England is said to be high on Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and J.J. McCarthy.
At least two of those quarterbacks will be available for their pick.
Would you be opposed to the #Patriots drafting Marvin Harrison Jr. at #3 and then signing Dak Prescott next year in free agency?
Or should they trade down and load up the team to prepare for Dak?
Or should they draft their franchise QB at #3? https://t.co/9Tvzqspeff pic.twitter.com/8tgbuKvlYF

But is Wright onto something? … Would they be better suited to make a play for Prescott?
Of course, the odds of that actually happening figure to be extremely small.Β
Again, Jones has made it crystal-clear that he wants Prescott to remain in Dallas. And by all accounts, that feeling is mutual.
It makes no sense for Dak Prescott to be on the Cowboys this year. Call the Patriots, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders and try and get into the 1st round QB game and restart the clock.

The Patriots seem content on starting their rebuild from the bottom-on-up. And make no mistake, it’s going to be a very long and cold rebuild. Arguably the toughest in the entire league.
But should they change course and make a run at Prescott to perhaps expedite matters?
Or would that be counterproductive, especially considering how large of a contract Prescott will inevitably get – whether it’s from Dallas or anyone else…
If they were smart, the #Patriots would trade back from No. 3 and build their team for a free-agent Dak Prescott in 2025.

What are your thoughts on Prescott?
Is he truly a franchise quarterback capable of winning a Super Bowl?
What type of contract is he deserving of???
