In a scary incident during the Marlins game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Miami third base coach Jody Reed sustained a fractured lower right leg after being struck by a foul ball off the bat of Jesús Sánchez.

The accident occurred during the third inning of the game, which ultimately ended in a 6-4 victory for the Cardinals.

Fans at LoanDepot Park recounted the unfortunate moment when the foul ball struck Reed. Medical staff rushed to his aid immediately, and he was subsequently taken to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.

“It was a scary sight,” said one fan seated near the incident. “You could hear the crack of the bat, and then the ball just hit Coach Reed square on his leg. We all held our breath as he went down, hoping it wasn’t too serious.”
