Travis Kelce, the 33-year-old superstar tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is no stranger to the spotlight. With eight Pro Bowl selections under his belt, Kelce is used to being noticed on the football field.
However, he recently attempted to catch the attention of a different kind of star – pop sensation Taylor Swift – with an elaborate plot that unfortunately didn’t go as planned.
Kelce revealed his intentions on his “New Heights” podcast which he co-hosts with his brother Jason of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He had crafted a bracelet with his own phone number on it, hoping to present it to Swift before her recent show in Kansas City. His aim was to establish a connection with the music icon, but things didn’t quite turn out as he had hoped.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Kelce confessed on the podcast.

Despite his efforts, it seems that meeting Taylor Swift backstage was not in the cards for the Chiefs star. He couldn’t help but feel a bit personal about the situation, though he did acknowledge the incredible show Swift put on for her fans.
“She doesn’t meet anybody – or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personally, but it was an unbelievable show,” Kelce admitted, with his brother Jason sharing a laugh at the encounter.
Jason, who faced off against his brother Travis during this year’s Super Bowl, offered a humorous explanation for Taylor Swift’s reluctance to meet Travis, suggesting that her known loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles might have played a role in it.
The Chiefs of course defeated the Eagles in February’s Super Bowl, so perhaps Swift was still holding a grudge.
In hindsight, Travis seemed to understand that Swift’s busy schedule might have been the reason for the missed opportunity. As one of the most successful artists in the world, Swift has been captivating audiences nationwide with her sold-out shows.
“I’ve only seen Arrowhead filled like that for Chiefs games with that much excitement, and everybody was dressed in pink and purple going crazy for her. It was wild. It was a wild show,” Kelce remarked, referring to the crowd’s enthusiastic response during the two shows Swift held at Arrowhead on July 7-8.
Regardless of his encounter with Swift, Kelce continues to be a standout star on the field. Coming off his seventh consecutive season with over 1,000 receiving yards, he has been an integral part of the Chiefs’ success, helping them secure two Super Bowl victories during his remarkable run.
