It’s never too early to start looking forward to the 2023 college football season.
Here’s a look at the top 5 biggest and best non-conference matchups of the upcoming season…
5. Colorado @ TCU: 9/2
Deion Sanders’ Colorado debut against the Horned Frogs, fresh off their magical season which ended (cruelly) in the national championship game.
How will Coach Prime perform against Sonny Dykes who will be replacing Max Duggan and Quentin Johnston?
4. Notre Dame @ Clemson: 11/4
These two blue bloods have built a nice little history with each other, but sadly this will be the last matchup between the two until 2027.
Both are dark horse playoff contenders and we’ll be treated to a spectacular quarterback matchup: Sam Hartman vs. Cade Klubnik.
3. Texas @ Alabama: 9/9
In a rematch of one of the best games of last season, the Longhorns will travel to Tuscaloosa for an early season showdown against the Tide.
Will Quinn Ewers be able to hold off Arch Manning for the starting quarterback spot? Or will we see the generational phenom take on Nick Saban and his retooled Tide?
2. Ohio State @ Notre Dame: 9/23
The Irish gave Ohio State a run for their money in last season’s opener. Now they get to host the matchup in South Bend and the Notre Dame crowd will sure be ready.
Ohio State is certainly a Mount Rushmore program of present-day college football – but new Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman will give the Irish more than a fighting chance against the Buckeyes.
1. LSU vs. Florida State (Orlando): 9/3
This season-opening matchup is as juicy as it gets. Two playoff contenders battling it out with enormous stakes on the line.
It will be played at “neutral site” Orlando, which will be just about as “neutral site” as last year’s matchup in New Orleans was (a 24-23 Seminole victory).
The main storyline will be the quarterback matchup which will feature two Heisman favorites, Jordan Travis of Florida State against Jayden Daniels of LSU.
