STEP RIGHT UP!!: Mets Post Job Listing For New “Mr. Met” & It Pays More Than Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Salary … Interested??

At 15-14, the New York Mets are fighting through the early part of what promises to be a challenging season.

After last year’s spending spree, owner Steve Cohen has taken a significant step back and shows little willingness to open back up the check book.

Some Mets fans feel like the organization is in many ways “punting” on the season.

However, the team is still talented and is more than capable of going on a surprising run. After all, it’s not like the Mets are the Rockies or White Sox.

Unfortunately for the Mets, they do play in one of the toughest divisions in all of baseball. At the end of the day, their margin for error is going to be smaller than other teams.

But hey, it’s early…

While we know the organization isn’t known for winning World Series (sorry, too easy), they are well-known for one thing in particular – their beloved mascot, Mr. Met.

As it turns out, the Mets are looking for fresh blood to become the new famous Mr. Met.

“We are seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic individual to represent our brand as our Mascot,” the Mets posted in a job listing.

“The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for entertainment and a knack for engaging and interacting with fans of all ages.”

“The Mascot will attend various events, both on and off-site, to promote our brand and create a fun and dynamic environment.”

The Mets are looking for someone to take on the role of “Manager of Mascot Operations,” a position that involves working closely with the iconic mascots to create memorable experiences for fans.

According to the job description, the Mascot Manager will be responsible for attending various events, both on and off-site, to promote the Mets brand and foster a fun and dynamic environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the position also include managing department budgets and overseeing the maintenance of mascot costumes.

The position requires an estimated 20-25 administrative hours per week and an additional 6-24 performance hours per week.

Qualification requirements include experience as a mascot, experience in office administration, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mr. Met, who made his live debut in 1964, is considered a pioneer in Major League Baseball mascots. His female counterpart, Mrs. Met, originally introduced in 1975, was reintroduced in 2013.

Interested candidates must act fast, as auditions are scheduled for the evening of May 15th.

The Manager of Mascot Operations position comes with a salary ranging from $67,000 to $89,000 per year.

If whoever ends up getting the job falls in the middle of that range, they’ll be making more in salary than women’s basketball phenom Caitlin Clark…

What are your thoughts on the job opening?

Would you want to be Mr. Met???

(Come on, we all know it’s been your lifelong dream…)
