“Stand-Up Guy:” Chargers GM Tom Telesco Surely Gained Respect With How He Handled J.C. Jackson Disaster

The Los Angeles Chargers took care of business last night as they smacked around a helpless Jets team en route to a dominating 27-6 victory.

The win evened their record at 4-4 and keeps them alive in the AFC playoff picture.

Accountability is one of the best qualities a person can have – and accountability is exactly what Chargers general manager Tom Telesco showed when he made a point to meet with the team’s defensive backs to personally apologize for his foolish decision to sign cornerback J.C. Jackson back in 2022.

The five-year, $82.5 million contract he gave Jackson turned out to be an all-time disaster due in large part to Jackson’s immaturity and horrific attitude.

Telesco decided to cut his losses and traded Jackson back to the New England Patriots for a bag of balls last month.

Telesco met with the Chargers defensive backs and apologized for bringing Jackson on-board. He called the costly signing a “swing and a miss.”

A closer look at Jackson’s on-field performance in 2022 reveals alarming statistics. Opposing quarterbacks notched an astronomical 149.3 passer rating when targeting Jackson, completing nearly 67% of their passes.

Concerns about his attitude further tainted his time with the Chargers, as reports within the organization described him as displaying a “lackadaisical” approach and an unwillingness to respond to coaching.

A pivotal moment highlighting the breakdown in communication and commitment occurred in Week 4 of this season when Jackson refused orders to enter the game.

Ultimately, the toxic dysfunction reached a boiling point and Telesco decided enough was enough.

What is your take on Jackson?

Will he ever grow up and put it all together??? … After all, no one is doubting his talent or potential.

But as we all know, talent and potential can only go so far…
